Fred Rutten: “We conceded a nasty goal”

PSV head coach Fred Rutten could not hide his disappointment after his side had failed to turn their dominance against FC Utrecht into goals. “We enjoyed the bulk of possession, but were unable to cut open their well-organised and stubborn backline. Yet we had chances to take all three points”, said Rutten at the post-match conference at the Galgenwaard Stadium.
The two coaches, Jan Wouters and Fred Rutten, shake hands at the end of the post-match conference.
“Conceded a clumsy goal”
“We enjoyed the bulk of possession in the first period, but we played at a slow pace. Yet we created some chances, while Utrecht hardly threatened our goal. We upped a gear after the break, but then we conceded a nasty goal. We were soon back on level terms and had chances to bag the win in the closing stages”, said Rutten in Utrecht. “Having dropped two points, it has been a disappointing afternoon, all in all. But we have only ourselves to blame. We will now turn our attention to the next game, at home to Vitesse on Friday”, concluded Rutten.
