Afellay scored first-half goal

Afellay and Bakkal returned to the starting line-up to replace Toivonen and Engelaar, who missed Sunday’s game because of illness. PSV started brightly and confidently with Dzsudzsák immediately producing goal-threat with a well-placed free kick. PSV got the early breakthrough in the 8th minute when captain Afellay unleashed a left-footed shot that took a huge deflection off defender Timothy Derijck to beat keeper Gino Coutinho: 0-1. Afellay has now scored goals in three consecutive Eredivisie games for the second time in his career. PSV were the better side in the first half but ADO threatened twice with headers.

ADO restored parity twice

ADO burst out of the blocks after the restart and PSV survived a scare when Verhoek hit the post. It was all square after ten minutes, though. Verhoek´s cross from the left was flicked on and Derijck was on hand to tap home: 1-1. ADO smelt blood and forced PSV to defend deeply. PSV head coach Fred Rutten brought on Ojo for Bakkal in the 63rd minute. PSV regained the lead fifteen minutes from time when Maza headed home a curling Dzsudzsák free kick: 1-2. PSV were eager to wrap up the game and Koevermans came off the bench to replace Berg in the 79th minute. Two minutes later ADO again restored parity, when Kubik beat advancing goalkeeper Isaksson: 2-2. Neither team managed to score a winner in the exciting closing stages as PSV dropped their first two points of the season.
